LHH is an innovative organization in the life sciences/biotech sector, seeking an experienced Billing System Implementation Consultant for a critical interim role. The consultant will lead the selection and implementation of a billing system to establish a robust billing infrastructure that supports revenue operations and long-term growth.
Responsibilities
- Evaluate existing credit card processing infrastructure
- Map the end-to-end revenue cycle, including:
- 1. Insurance verification
- 2. Claims submission and payer follow-up
- 3. Remittance and payment posting
- 4. Denial management
- 5. Accounts receivable and collections
- 6. Month-end reconciliation
- Define billing requirements across patient invoicing and insurance reimbursement workflows, ensuring regulatory alignment
- Recommend and implement a billing platform/solution tailored to organizational scale, payer mix, and compliance needs
- Design and configure:
- 1. Billing workflows and templates
- 2. Payer profiles and coding structures
- 3. Payment categories and reporting fields
- 4. Denial tracking mechanisms
- Develop seamless integration with QuickBooks, including:
- 1. Chart of accounts mapping
- 2. Invoice and payment synchronization
- 3. Cash application and reconciliation
- 4. Adjustments, write-offs, and refund tracking
- Establish scalable processes, controls, and governance frameworks to support increased transaction volume as the company grows
- Develop and document standard operating procedures for billing, reconciliation, exception handling, and reporting
- Define and implement key performance metrics, including:
- 1. Cash collections
- 2. Days sales outstanding (DSO)
- 3. Aging and receivables health
- 4. Claims denial rates
- Lead training, to ensure successful adoption
Skills
- Proven experience implementing billing and claims management systems within a healthcare laboratory setting
- Strong knowledge of insurance billing and payer workflows
- Strong knowledge of claims processing, remittance, and denial management
- Strong knowledge of accounts receivable and revenue reconciliation
- Hands-on experience integrating billing systems with QuickBooks (or similar accounting platforms)
- Experience operating in biotech or laboratory environments
- Strong project management experience
- Demonstrated success working in high-growth or start-up environments, with evolving requirements and limited infrastructure
