Key Responsibilities
- Oversee and manage all aspects of tax compliance for trusts and estates, including federal and state income, gift, and estate tax returns.
- Develop and implement tax planning strategies for high net worth individuals and their estates, ensuring alignment with client financial goals and objectives.
- Provide guidance and support to clients on estate and trust tax matters, communicating complex tax issues in a clear and concise manner.
- Collaborate with internal teams and external advisors to ensure that all tax strategies are aligned with client financial goals and objectives.
- Stay informed on current tax laws and regulations, communicating any changes that may impact clients to the appropriate parties.
- Conduct research on complex tax issues, providing solutions that minimize tax liability and increase client wealth.
- Review and approve trust and estate tax work papers and returns prepared by junior staff, ensuring accuracy and quality.
- Foster and maintain client relationships, ensuring high levels of client satisfaction and identifying opportunities for growth and development.
Essential Qualifications
To be successful in this role, you will need to possess the following essential qualifications:
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in tax planning and compliance for trusts and estates.
- In-depth knowledge of federal and state tax laws and regulations related to trusts and estates.
- Strong understanding of fiduciary tax and estate planning strategies.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to think critically and creatively.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to explain complex tax issues in a clear and concise manner.
- Proven leadership skills, with experience managing and mentoring junior staff.
- Ability to work independently in a fully remote environment, with strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Proficiency in tax preparation software and Microsoft Office Suite.
Preferred Qualifications
While not essential, the following qualifications are highly desirable:
- Experience working with high net worth individuals and their estates.
- Knowledge of tax planning strategies for trusts and estates, including charitable planning and wealth transfer planning.
- Experience with tax controversy and dispute resolution.
- Familiarity with industry-specific tax software and technology.
