Essential and Preferred Qualifications: What We're Looking For
To succeed as a Special Education Substitute Teacher with Scoot Education, you will need:
- An active Teaching license with a special education generalist (5-21) and/or special education specialist (5-21) endorsement(s).
- Substitute Authorization (must have or be in the process of obtaining if your license is expired).
- Three professional references, including one from a previous direct supervisor.
- Completion of a Background Check for Scoot Education (reimbursed on your first paycheck) and the Colorado Department of Education (required for Substitute Authorization).
We prefer candidates with:
- Experience working with students with diverse special needs, including autism, mild moderate, severe, and multi-intensive needs.
- Knowledge of individualized educational plans (IEPs), functional behavior assessments, and behavior intervention plans.
- Strong classroom management and behavioral support skills.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with teachers, staff, and students.
